The first U.S. city to host the Olympics
The United States didn’t host the Olympic Games until the Summer Games in 1904. The city to receive the honor was St. Louis, Missouri. St. Louis holds an even more significant Olympic distinction: it was the first non-European city to host the Games. Since then, Lake Placid, New York; Los Angeles and Squaw Valley, California; Atlanta, Georgia; and Salt Lake City, Utah have all hosted the Olympics.
