Buy produce that’s in season
Strawberries in January? Apples in June? Tomatoes in December? True, it can be expensive to buy fresh year-round, so make eating veggies more wallet-friendly by looking for signs that produce is in season in your area, and/or local. Here’s exactly when you should be buying your favorite fruits and vegetables. “Buying what’s in season is not only cheaper, but it also tastes better and can have more nutrients,” says Megan Casper, MS, RDN.
